Set to open in September 2025

We are a brand new special school for children and young people between the ages of 4 and 18 who may be autistic (or experience other communication difficulties) and have severe learning difficulties.

Ethos and Values

At Tiffield Academy, we believe in supporting our young people to develop in all ways and use our core values of ‘be kind, be curious, be ambitious’ to underpin everything we do. Our core values apply to the adults who make up the team at Tiffield and the way we nurture and support our learners, to the learners themselves as we help them to develop their own sense of self and to the families connected to our school. We believe that we can only secure the best learning and personal outcomes for our children when we work together proactively and positively.

Our goals for all our children are: independence, effective communication and emotional well-being and regulation. Our practice is designed to always keep these key drivers at the forefront of all we do. We know that our young people need to develop effective skills in these areas in order to thrive in their adult life and therefore opportunities for this development will be embedded into daily life at Tiffield Academy. Our community will benefit from the talents of our learners and enrichment opportunities will ensure our learners understand how to be safe, happy and healthy out of school.

Our curriculum will be driven by a ‘first day to last day’ perspective. We feel privileged that many of our children will spend a number of years with us and we take this responsibility seriously. It is essential we understand where each child is when they first arrive to Tiffield Academy, and where they need to be when they eventually leave us. We need to ensure our learners are given the right opportunities, at the right time and delivered in the right way. We are ambitious for all. Our curriculum is designed to promote an understanding of kindness, spark curiosity in our children and develop an arena where ambition is not limited.

Above all, the team is driven by the desire to know all our young people as individuals – that knowledge will enable us to support and guide children as they grow and will empower us to ensure aspirations for our learners are always high. Our team are integral to the experience of our children and the staff community will be valued, developed through purposeful learning opportunities and retain their passion for the role they play in striving to provide the best education experience possible for our children.
